Work in a WiMax Enabled World
WebWorkerWorld has been a voice for a bit of antidisestablishmentarianism. But it is an interesting read none the less on how a highly enabled wireless might change things. For a retro look at what the wired Internet has done read this post and thread.
When you consider what the wired Internet has wrought — shortened cycle times, eliminated middlemen, introduced new services and new job titles; it is revolutionary. But the one thing that the wired net has not eliminated is Place. One must still physically place one’s self in front of a device that is physically tied to the net. EVDO untethers, but at a snails pace. What will happen when Place is not even important to have net presence? Oh sure, one could be basking on the beach in Honolulu. But I think it will mean more than that, way more.
