Verizon thinks broadband consumers are as gullible as texters
Verizon has been making a few moves in the cloud lately including taking a stab at content delivery. Apparently Darth V thinks the same people who grossly overpay for resources by sending text messages are ready to overpay for online backup. So goes their new offering that will likely find few takers - at least if we can help it. Before you buy backup from from the black helment, just Google for other options. The are abundant, and much less expensive.
Verizon is following the herd with an improved broadband backup and sharing product for home PCs announced today. Just drag and drop your files into a folder on your PC, and Verizon will store them online for you — no matter who provides your broadband. New features also include sharing among selected friends. The first 250 MB is free, but it will cost $30.99 a month for 50 GB. (Gigaom)
